Adam, Halle, Sloane and I will be back joining our Edward Elmhurst NICU family at the Dupage March of Dimes walk for our fourth year. We are walking to support other babies currently in the NICU, NICU graduates, and babies that gained their angel wings before going home. We are also walking to support other mothers like myself are at high risk for preterm labor.
As most of you know, we had our first baby Halle 4 months early at 24 weeks gestation. We spent a total of 225 days in the NICU.
Although I would never wish this on anyone , this experience has taught me, I am stronger than I think, my marriage is stronger than I could have imagined, and we are very lucky to have a supportive family and amazing doctors and nurses in our life. Even throughout Sloane's pregnancy, we had Halle's nicu doctors and nurses checking in with us week after week and watching us closely and luckily we were able to dodge a nicu stay this time around.
We choose to walk for March of Dimes, so no one has to make these decisions or spend this much time at a hospital.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
