I have participated in this event for many years, but a premature birth had never touched my family directly until six years ago when my grandson Rowan was born. Rowan was diagnosed with PUV (Posterior Urethral Valve) blockage at 20 weeks. After three months of treatments, our little miracle was born 2 months early on 4/26/2019, weighing in at 4 lbs. Rowan spent his first six months in the NICU. His fight and resilience were humbling. After two years he had reached the weight to be eligible for a kidney transplant. 2021 was an incredible year as his Dad’s donation of a kidney changed Rowan’s quality of life tremendously. Now as he approaches his sixth birthday, Rowan is living his life to the fullest and is attending his first your of school. I am so proud of the little man and his mother and father and all they have accomplished. We plan on “Rockin’ with Rowan” this year as the date of the MoD walk is the day after his sixth birthday. I am forever thankful for all the incredible people at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, UC Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, family, and friends who have helped Rowan fight the good fight. Please consider walking at the event or making a donation to help end premature births. All donations support the March of Dimes.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
