We are walking again this year in celebration of Drake's 9th birthday and in memory of his twin sister, Juliette.
On March 9, 2016, after a healthy but emotionally tolling pregnancy, I gave birth at 32 weeks to twins. Our baby girl, Juliette, was born with Trisomy 18, weighing less than two pounds, and only lived for a short time. Our son, Drake, weighed just under four pounds and spent four weeks in the NICU and Continuing Care Nursery at MMC before being able to finally come home with us.
Drake is now a vibrant 9 year old. He loves playing video games, adores his big brother, and has the biggest heart. He loves soccer, reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid, is active in Cub Scouts, and is really becoming quite the young man. He makes us laugh every day and warms our hearts with his hugs.
My favorite thing Drake said about his sister a few years ago: "Even though I didn't know her, I still love her" <3 We hold Juliette in our hearts every day and strive to do our best to help others in her memory.
I will be forever grateful to the nurses, doctors, and other staff at MMC. They went above and beyond in so many ways to make our stay comfortable and as stress-free as possible. The March of Dimes sponsors classes and programs for the parents/families of the babies in the NICU. These classes helped me to connect with other mothers and not feel so alone in my time there.
Please sponsor us as, Griffin, Drake, Jason and I walk and help those who have yet to be born. Making a secure donation is easy: just click the donate button on this page. Thank you for helping me give all babies a healthy start!
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
