Janet Supports March for Babies

On April 28th, I will be walking with my family in honor of my granddaughter, Nina who was born at 24 weeks weighing 715 grams.  To hear more about her life, I am sharing my daugher, Lisa and son-in-law, Charlie's story below.

Thank you,

Janet

On September 1st 2017, we drove to the Emergency Room at 22 weeks and 2 days pregnant expecting to be sent home after running a few tests. After arriving, we quickly found out that I was in fact dilated and my water was broken. Based off of symptoms, my water ruptured at 21 weeks and was told we would be delivering our baby within 24-72 hours. After numerous discussions with various doctors, we made the decision to stay at the hospital under observation in hopes of saving our baby. 18 days later, our beautiful Nina Hope was born at 24 weeks and 5 days weighing 1 pound 9 ounces and 12.2 inches long.  Our 127 day NICU stay was something I would never wish upon anyone, but I am so grateful it happened to us.  Watching our tiny, frail little girl fight everyday to survive and continue to blow every statistic out of the water with the help of our amazing nurses and doctors, along with the support of our family and friends, is an experience we will never forget.  We are walking to celebrate each day she fought to survive and every little miracle that was performed by God.  She is our Hero!

Today Nina is a joyous, healthy, loving 6 year old. She is thriving at her amazing school in Kindergarten, loves playing soccer and doing
dance. Those who know Nina see that her favorite part of life is to be around people.  It doesn't matter if they are 2 weeks old or 92 years, she is at her happiest when spending time with others.

The March of Dimes has directly impacted our family by partnering with Prentice Womens Hosptial's NICU, where Nina was born. We are confident that the research, training, and ongoing support that the March of Dimes provides to the NICU care team had a significant impact on the outcome for Nina. Their mission to fight for all mothers and babies, putting an end to preventable preterm birth, infant death, and
maternal health risks is something we are forever grateful for.

We hope you'll join us in spreading awarness and raising money for a chairty that has made such an impact in our families life, specifically our Nina Hope.

Join our team and walk with us, share our link, and donate!

Thank you so much!

The Brey Family

WE NEED TO UNITE, CONNECT AND FIGHT FOR FAMILIES

With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.

At March for Babies you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.

Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
