On December 8, 2014, I gave birth to my baby girl, Makena Ada due to unforeseen complications with my pregnancy. I was just 3 days shy of 6 months so Makena’s lungs had not fully developed. Still, she courageously fought to live and even opened her eyes to the amazement of our doctors. Unfortunately, her lungs could not sustain her so she passed away on December 10, 2014 (2 days after I delivered). Every day since then, I have thought about her and I am thinking about her today! I will love and miss her forever.
I participate to help all moms and families experience the joy of a healthy baby. With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country.
