I think when most people hear that I work in radiology at Parkland, their first thought is of all the trauma I must see. But Parkland is also home to one of the nation's largest and leading NICU units in the country. Many of our patients are they tiniest, little fighters that you could ever imagine, fighting for their lives from their very first moments. We see these babies and their families daily, and while it is heartbreaking, it it also nothing short of a miracle seeing how the NICU Team is able to treat and take care of their little fighters until they are strong enough to go home.
Many of you may not know, that while my daughter was born seemingly, healthy at 6 lbs and 4 oz, and breathing on her own, she remained in the hospital for another week, diagnosed as “failure to thrive” until she pretty much figured out how to stay awake long enough to eat enough nourishment on her own. My profile picture is of her and I at Children's Hospital during that time. As a mother, it was the scariest week of my life, worried about my precious new born baby girl, and not knowing how to help her get better. We are so great-full for the care and the support that we received during that time, and I am happing to report, that my daughter is now more than thriving as a beautiful, 16 year old Sophomore.
I joined this movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those who are most at risk.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. But I need your help.
Please visit my fundraising page to make a donation. Together we’ll be part of a movement to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
