We are walking for our daughter, Emma Mae Kyre. Emma was born 8 weeks early on May 30, 2003, weighing only 4lbs and 5 ounces. Our little girl was only in the NICU for 2 weeks. She was behind in her motor skills, but with physical therapy when she was a toddler, and she is now a happy, healthy, and active high school freshman. Emma is a 17 year-old competitive dancer in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Aug. 2, 2007, named Ethan. We were very lucky during this pregnancy but to take precautions, I had to receive injections in my hip every week from 26 weeks to 39 weeks gestation and it worked! Ethan is a very active 13 year old boy who loves to play soccer. Research has come a long way, but we still have more hurdles to overcome.
Ironically, I was born 12 weeks premature in June 1973. I spent many months in the NICU here at Nationwide Children's Hospital but I also beat the odds and was a healthy baby and now an adult.
Please join us to help the March of Dimes.

With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
