Every year, with the generosity and support of so many of you at KPMG, Christy and I support the March of Dimes as a way to honor our son, Chase William Blose, who was stillborn at 8 months in 2014. Chase is a part of our family’s story forever, and sharing his memory in a way that helps others has been one of the most meaningful things we do. Over the years, when we’ve shared our story, so many colleagues and friends have reached out with their own experiences with difficulty in child birth and joined our KPMG walk team. Those conversations have reminded us that so many families carry similar heartbreak — and none of us are alone.
What motivates us most is the belief that every family deserves the chance to welcome a healthy baby into the world. Yet across the country, that chance is slipping further out of reach for too many. According to the 2025 March of Dimes Report Card, the U.S. continues to receive a D+ grade for preterm birth — one of the lowest among developed nations. Right now, 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. is born prematurely, which equates to nearly 380,000 babies every year who arrive too soon, often facing serious health challenges or long NICU stays.
The data is moving in the wrong direction. National preterm birth rates have stalled at 10.4% for multiple years, and in some areas, the numbers are even worse. Behind these statistics are real families navigating fear, loss, and uncertainty — families just like ours.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
