My son Madden was born at 32 weeks gestation, at only 4lbs 6.3 oz and needed to stay in the NICU for 3 weeks and 5 days. Now that may not be nearly as long for some preemies, but it seemed like forever to me. It is the most scary feeling in the world going home without your baby. After going through a first hand experience like this, I couldn't help but become involved with the March of Dimes organization. I started a company team, then created a family team, became a family mentor, then a member of the Young Professionals Board, and now I'm Vice Chair for the Chicago chapter. I do this because I believe in this organization, and I couldn't imagine my world without Madden.
