It completely blows my mind to think that we will have a 12- and 14-year-old in just a few short weeks, but alas, it is true. This year, the girls were back together in the same school again at Aberdeen Middle School for 6th and 8th grade. They are both doing extremely well academically and have made the honor roll every quarter. They also both made the middle school soccer team, and Dave and I are looking forward to watching them play together this spring!
Ella will be venturing off to High School in the fall and was accepted into the Teaching Academy of Maryland Program. It is a competitive program that will enable her to graduate from high school while simultaneously earning an associate’s degree and 12 college credits in Early Childhood Education. We are so very proud of her for being courageous enough to apply to the program and accept the invitation, even though it will mean she attends a different high school than most of her friends. Ella continues to enjoy playing soccer and will also try out for the high school team in the fall. Recently, she has taken a keen interest in baking and has made some AMAZING desserts. Her cinnamon rolls are to die for!
Karter is thriving in middle school and is working hard to overcome her shyness. She stepped out of her comfort zone and auditioned to be a part of the set crew for the school’s spring musical and was awarded the position of set manager! Karter LOVES to sing, and she fills our house with songs, all day long! We are hopeful that maybe next year she will audition for a speaking role in the school play or musical. Karter also loves to be creative, and she spends a lot of her free time making various kinds of art, from painting to jewelry to pottery. She is an authentic, kind, and independent young lady.
