My pregnancy journey wasn’t easy, but it made me a fighter, and it made my son a miracle. Before him, I went through two early pregnancy losses. Each one broke me in ways I can’t explain, but each one also pushed me to keep going, to keep hoping, and to keep believing that one day I’d finally get to hold my baby.
When I finally got pregnant with my son, I knew something felt wrong early on. I fought for weeks, a month straight rather… Kept telling doctors something wasn’t right. And I was right. I became severely sick with hypertension, preeclampsia, and HELLP syndrome. My body was shutting down, and both our lives were at risk.
I was life-flighted to Magee, where they made the call that saved us. At just 35 weeks, I delivered my baby boy through an emergency C-section. He came early, but he came strong. He needed a little extra help and spent time under blue lights for jaundice, but he fought just as hard as I did. Today, I’m supporting Magee and the March for Babies because they saved us. They gave my son a chance to grow, breathe, and live his beautiful little life. And they gave me the chance to be his mom.
I walk for the babies who never got their first breath, for the moms fighting silent battles, for the families who have lived the fear I lived and for the hope that tomorrow’s moms won’t have to. This is our story. This is why I walk. 💜👣
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
