I joined March for Babies because this cause is deeply personal to our family.
Our oldest son was born prematurely. Today, he’s a healthy, thriving 20-year-old college student, but that outcome wasn’t guaranteed. When he was born, he spent weeks in the NICU at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He needed an incubator, help learning how to eat, and treatment for jaundice. Those early weeks mattered, and access to specialized care made all the difference.
When we later learned we were expecting our youngest son, we were considered high-risk. To help prevent another premature birth, my wife needed regular progesterone shots throughout her pregnancy; care that played a critical role in helping our youngest son reach full term.
Our family has seen both sides: lifesaving NICU care and preventive treatment that helped avoid another premature birth altogether.
That’s why I’m raising funds for March for Babies: to support research, advocacy, and care that give moms and babies the best possible chance, before and after birth.
