Heidi supports March for Babies

I'm so honored to continue to be a part of this important organization and to see what the donations have done to increase the research taking place right here in DFW. Many of your know our story, but it's important to me and Bobby that we never forget and we try to help others also on this journey.

Our story: It's hard to think back to the rollercoaster that was 2013.  Bobby and I were thrilled to find out we were having twins but by the end of my first trimester, had already started to have contractions and we knew it would be a long and scary journey.  At 20 weeks, I was hospitalized and though my contractions were under control, my own health started to deteriorate.  Fortunately, an attentive nurse of mine noticed that my blood pressure was on the rise and pushed my doctor to run tests - my organs were shutting down and I was high risk for a stroke.  It wasn't long after that HELLP syndrome caused me to have an emergency cesarian at 30 weeks; 10 full weeks before the twins' due date.  Aiden and Aviana came into this world as little fighters from day one.  Weighing in at just 3lb 2 oz and 2lbs 10 oz, Aiden and Aviana were rushed to the NICU before I was able to see them.  For the next week, I recovered in my hospital bed and Bobby would take videos for me.  The NICU nurses (or as they called themselves, the most expensive babysitters I'd ever have) were the most loving, compassionate, and caring people I've ever experienced.  They helped the twins to thrive and we were able to welcome them both home by their original due date.  Today, almost 10 years later, the twins still have that fight in their souls.   Bobby and I know how blessed we are that our story has a happy ending but we don't ever forget that not everyone gets to say the same.

Our family joins in the March of Dimes walk to raise awareness for the importance of this cause and it's ability to focus on the critical issues that affect Moms and babies from prematurity and health equity to mortality and morbidity.   Please join us on this walk or donate for the cause.

When it comes to giving families the best possible start, we all have the power to help.

March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.

March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.

Thank you for your support!
