On June 3, 2010, Dave and I became parents for the first time to our twin daughters, Carlie Rose and Cailin Marie. Weighing just over a pound each, they were the tiniest, most beautiful babies we had ever seen. Yet the joy we had hoped to feel in meeting our daughters for the first time was met with heartache knowing this would likely be our last moments together. But against all odds, we were given some time with both of our girls. Carlie knew only love during her brief stay with us in the NICU. And though our hearts broke when she slipped away later that night before we had the chance to hold her, we remain grateful for the little time we had with her. Cailin stayed with us a day and a half longer. Like her sister, she was a fighter, but we knew the time was coming to say our goodbyes. Making the decision to let Cailin go was the most difficult choice we have ever faced. Yet in that moment, we were finally able to hold our daughter. She passed peacefully in Dave’s and my arms. While the pain of losing Carlie and Cailin will always remain, we find comfort in honoring our daughters through this foundation.  Please consider walking with us or making a donation in their names.
