This year marks the 21st year our family has participated in March for Babies. We walk to honor Lauren and to support the March of Dimes in its work to improve the health of moms and babies.
Chris and I were introduced to parenthood in a way we never expected. Our first child, Lauren Diane Bradbury, was born 16 weeks early on November 24, 2005, weighing just one pound, nine ounces.
She fought for six days in the NICU. After a grade IV brain bleed, we were faced with the decision no parent imagines making. Lauren died in our arms in the early morning hours of November 30th.
There isn’t a year that passes that we don’t wonder who she would be today. We carry her with us — and turning our grief into action has become part of how we honor her.
Each April, we walk:
Too many families share a story like ours. About one million babies die each year worldwide due to complications of premature birth, and many who survive face serious health challenges.
The March of Dimes is working to change that. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to our team. Your support funds research, advocacy, and programs that help more families bring their babies home — and it keeps Lauren’s legacy moving forward.
Thank you for standing with us.
P.S. If you’ve supported us in the past, thank you. If you’re able to give again this year — at any amount — it truly makes a difference.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
