MY STORY

In 2006 I was pregnant with my 2nd child. Everything was going good until I had a bad headache. We figured out I had high blood pressure. After about a week the blood pressures went back to normal. A few weeks later it happened again. This time it turned into pre- eclampsia. On November 11th, 2006 I was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. My blood pressure was 210/190. When we got to the hospital I got settled in. My boyfriend went to make some calls and when he came back they were calling a code blue to my room. I had a seizure. They had to do a c section and get the baby out quick. Anthony (Bubba) was born at 1:53 am on November 12th, 2006. He weighed 1 lb 3 oz and was 12 inches long. He was transferred from Pottsville Hospital to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest. He spent 73 days total in the NICU there with 51 of those days incubated. He is now 17 years old and over 200 lbs. He does have some medical problems along with ADHD and Autism but he is doing really well.

When it comes to giving families the best possible start, we all have the power to help.

March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.

March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
