A peek at the NICU: We are that big door at the end of a hall that you never even knew existed. We are that locked unit where few are allowed to visit, where you will scrub the skin off your hands upon entering, where voices are quite, lights are low, and there is a constant hum of life saving equpiment. We are a place you probably never wanted to end up. But we are a place of COURAGE, PERSERVERANCE, HOPE, and LOVE. We are where dreams begin, babies grow, and families are built. Every year 380,000 babies are born prematurely, but we care for more than preemies! You will find babies who were born at 23 weeks and those born at 42 weeks in the NICU. You will find babies who are 1 day old and babies who are 120 days old. Those who are just too small, or too big!, babies who need help breathing, babies who need help staying warm, babies who need antibiotics and phototherapy and test after test. For all of these babies and their unique needs, Magee NICU and the March of Dimes is there! The March of Dimes funds millions of dollars in research helps us to provide the best care of every baby! Over the past 7 years, our NICU team has raised over $35,000 for the March of Dimes--tipping the scales at $12,000 raised in 2019!
