When I was pregnant, things didn’t go the way I expected. I developed HELLP syndrome, which is a serious pregnancy complication that can become dangerous really quickly. It wasn’t something I saw coming, and it meant I had to deliver early.
Isana was born at 34 weeks, weighing 5 pounds and went straight to the NICU.
Instead of a typical delivery and going straight home, we ended up navigating a more medical-heavy start. Monitoring and a lot of learning on the fly. It’s one of those situations where you realize how common complications actually are, and how much support and research matter.
That’s why March of Dimes is important to me.
They focus on improving outcomes for moms and babies, especially when it comes to premature birth and conditions like HELLP syndrome. The kind of care and knowledge that exists now is because of ongoing research and advocacy—and that’s what helps families get through situations like ours.
Isana is doing well now, and we’re really grateful for that. Not every family has the same experience, and that’s why this work matters.
If you’re able to support, donate, or share, it goes toward helping more moms and babies have better outcomes.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
