Lainey’s Story

Lainey Frances Bannon was born March 21st, 2024 at 8:45a.m. 3 pounds 4 ounces. Our journey has not been easy but it’s Lainey’s story. On December 21st we went in for our anatomy scan and received some very scary news. The MFM doctors told us that our baby was not growing and that we needed to be rushed to West Penn. I can confidantly say that was the worst day of our lives. MFM wanted us to deliver at 24 weeks but the NICU wasn’t sure if they could save our baby girl. The MFM doctors did not have much hope, but we never gave up on Lainey. Logan and I decided to put it in Gods hands and pray that in the next 3 weeks she would continue to grow. We would go to daily mass and pray that God would give us our miracle baby. January 11th, 27 weeks pregnant, our Lainey girl went from 15 oz to 1 lb 9 oz, God is so good! We were diagnosed with Intrauterine growth restriction. We would have to go weekly for stress test and dopplers to make sure she continued to grow. Every week we had our hospital bags ready incase I would have to deliver. March 21st, 37 weeks pregnant, we delivered our miracle baby. She is perfect in every single way and I give it all to God. We trusted him through this whole pregnancy and he blessed us with the most perfect baby. I hope that I can help other moms who go through something like this because I had so many moms reach out, they shared their stories and gave us hope. It can be such a scary time but please know you are not alone. Our NICU family has been our rock. I cannot say enough amazing things about the NICU nurses at West Penn. Never once have I felt scared or alone. They have truly become family. They have made this experience so wonderful and have taught me how I can be the best mom to Lainey. They have taught me all their tricks on feeding, diaper changing, sleep training, etc. Even though this isn’t how we imagined our birth story would be, we couldn’t imagine it any other way.

When it comes to giving families the best possible start, we all have the power to help.
