Team McNair Twins has officially been in existence for 11 years and this year will be our 12th March for Babies! Back in 2015 when we started, I never would have guessed that we would raise over $25,000 but I think we are actually closing in on our goal of $35,000! I also never imagined that I would run 5 Chicago Marathons for March of Dimes but this year I'm super excited to join my team for our March For Babies Walk on May 17th AND I'll be volunteering (again!) on the Chicago Marathon course. For those of you that are reading about Team McNair Twins for the first time, I particpate because March of Dimes was with my family when we needed it the most over 12 years ago. My nieces, Parker Elizabeth and Emery Grace, were born at 26 weeks old on August 19th, 2013 (due to complications related to Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome). Parker spent 7 months in the NICU before going home and Emery spent almost 10 months in the NICU before heading home to Heaven with her angel wings. We as a family knew that my brother, Matt and his wife, Ashley, needed as much support as possible but it was the NICU staff at Lutheran General Hospital that gave them everything we could not and continue to do so for every family in need!
With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. Do you know that 1 in 10 babies are born too soon or too sick? The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families (like mine!) in our community and across the country. If you believe, like I do, that every baby deserves the best possible start, please march with me or make a donation to support this 85 year old community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all moms and babies. Will you join us?
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for anything you are willing to contribute to our cause, I am so incredibly proud that we are 11 years strong and counting!
Carrie

March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
