September 2017, heaven gained a beautiful strong angel, my niece-- little Greta Forte. Greta made a huge impact on everyone's life she touched. After experiencing first-hand, the heart break that endures I've been inspired to specialize in NICU nursing with hopes to help families like the nurses that helped mine, as well as educate others. Greta was taken too early from us, much like many other babies all around the world. Each year, about 15 million babies are born too early. This means 1 in 10 babies are affected by premature birth, and 1 million children die each year because of complications during premature birth. There is still no identifiable cause to premature birth, but with the important work that March of Dimes does, I do know that families and babies can benefit from it like my family has.
