WHY do I walk, you ask? WHY do I spend so much time and effort supporting March of Dimes? I do it for the babies born prematurely, the babies that sadly were not born at all and the babies that were born but couldn't stay. I do it for research and education necessary to reduce the numbers of all those babies I just mentioned. Instead of hitting you with facts and statistics, I'll remind you that it is very likely that someone you know has been directly affected by premature birth. Over the years I have met many families that have had babies born too soon. Their stories of babies in the NICU, not able to come home right away are usually pretty sad. BUT, seeing the babies as they grow up and flourish is absolutely wonderful. There was a time when the majority of those babies would have never come home. Hopefully there will come a day when the number of premature births will be much lower, but in order to make that happen March of Dimes needs your support. And if you think your donation is too small to matter, just remember my March for Babies motto.... The only donation that IS too small is the one the ISN'T made at all!
