We are honored to be this year's Ambassador Family for the March of Dimes - March for Babies event on May 16th here in Portland, OR!
Wren entered the world earlier than we had hoped at 31 weeks due to my diagnosis of severe pre-eclampsia. We quickly got acquainted with the NICU as we spent her first 5 weeks in the hospital, then discharged on a NICU at home-based program for an additional 5 weeks. We experienced many setbacks to her growth and development journey but were eventually able to wean from an NG tube as she successfully started independently eating on her own at 9 months old! We are so thankful to look back at this challenging time in our lives on the other side with a thriving and spunky 3.5-year-old
Despite the ultimate positive outcome, the fear of another traumatic birthing and postpartum experience made it difficult to consider any future pregnancies. It required thoughtfulness and discernment if we were willing to risk my or a future baby's life if the same fate would happen twice. With excellent counsel from maternal fetal medicine and significant support from a perinatal mental therapist, we welcomed Ruby to the world unscathed by any complications.
Please join by walking with us (locally or remotely) and/or donating to raise awareness for maternal and infant health. This nationwide walking event supports research, programs, and advocacy efforts to improve the health of moms and babies.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
