I joined the movement not only to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, but especially because my family is a recipient of the March of the March of Dimes.
My nephew Jaylen was born 3 months prematurely due to my sister developing high blood pressure during her pregnancy and it began restricting his blood flow. In April of 2007 he was born, weighing only 1 lb. 8 oz and only 12 inches long-the length of a 20 oz pop bottle. He spent 7 months in the hospital before he finally came home. Within that time, his medical treatments and surgeries came up to 1 million dollars. He came home with a tracheostomy, ventilator, oxygen, feeding tube, feeding pump & a whole lot of other medical equipment. Despite all he has endured, he was the happiest baby I have ever seen! God has truly blessed him & research by the March of Dimes has greatly improved the odds for babies like him. Jaylen was walking & talking & just as active as any other toddler. Now, he is a sophomore in college to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production to become a movie producer!
Any amount you are able to donate helps a family more than you know!
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
