Me and my twin sister Hanna were born premature at 15 weeks early. Growing up I saw the effect that us being born as early as we were had on my parents, especially my mom. Having a child is a very emotional and exciting thing to experience I know as I've heard that from countless mothers as I grew up. However for my own parents, mine and Hanna's birth, which started out as exciting, turned into a sadly frightening time for our parents that lasted for months. The doctors had given me and Hanna a 10% chance of survival yet despite all odds we survived, this is thanks to the March of Dimes. I've seen with my own eyes how the March of Dimes support, that helped ensure mine and Hanna's survival, inspired my parents to act. My parents, especially my mom, have done so much to raise awareness on premature birth over the years. Those two are my biggest role models and they inspired me to help raise awareness to ensure the health and happiness of all moms and babies.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
