Tom Schibusch

Why I walk

When it comes to charitable endeavors, Tom Schibusch is an army of one. Schibusch led his first fundraising effort as a fourth-grader standing outside a liquor store collecting pocket change for UNICEF. As an Apple Valley High School student inspired by the movie "Rocky" he launched the High Desert's first March of Dimes walkathon 41 years ago and then trudged 20 painful miles to the finish line. Having been born prematurely, Tom has Cerebral Palsy, but he doesn't let this stop him. His goal is to help save as many babies as possible from the devastating effects of premature birth. That is why he has made fundraising for this good cause his life's work.

Your gift matters

Funds raised in March for Babies support research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And they will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.

Fundraising goal: $2,000
