One in 10 babies is born too soon. In our family, that number is 4 out of 6.
I was nearly six months pregnant when I suffered unexplained preterm labor, and my twins- daughter & son, Ava and Cole- were born too early to survive. We were devastated.
My nephew Emmanuel was also born 3 months early, and spent months in the NICU clinging to life. But thanks in part to the lifesaving advances made through the March of Dimes' research, he is now a healthy, thriving 11-year old.
My most recent pregnancy was nearly cut short when I again experienced preterm labor at 32 weeks, but doctors were able to stop it after 4 days.
Please support my walk for the March of Dimes, in hopes that their work will help ensure no other mom ever has to suffer the terrible pain of a baby born too soon. Two babies die every hour in the U.S. And about every 12 hours a woman dies as a result of complications from pregnancy.
It's not fine. That's why we March for Babies.
We march to end maternal death. We march for babies born too soon. We march for babies we have lost. We march for moms-to-be. And we march for health equity.
