Why I Walk...

March of Dimes, the leader in mom and baby health, seeks to raise awareness about the significant disparity in prematurity rates between black infants and those of other races.Birth outcomes in the United States show considerable variation by race and ethnicity. The factors that influence disparities in perinatal health care are complex and not fully understood.

Here are some quick facts from the National Center for Health Statistics on Premature Birth in the U.S. Black Population

  • One in 6 Black babies are born preterm (prior to the 37th week of pregnancy).
  • Prematurity/low birthweight has been the leading cause of neonatal mortality (death in the first month of life).
  • Babies born late preterm (between 34 and 36 weeks gestation) are at greater risk for serious health problems, related to brain development, breathing, and feeding.

In support of healthy, beautiful black babies everywhere, I'm working with the March of Dimes Organizaton to raise funds to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Will you help?

WE NEED TO UNITE, CONNECT AND FIGHT FOR FAMILIES

With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.

At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.

Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
