I was diagnosed with placenta previa at 20 weeks. My doctor was SURE it would resolve and not be a serious issue.
When Elilta was 31 weeks and 5 days my placenta suddenly ruptured and I was brought in for an emergency C-section.
Elilta was in the NICU for 58 days.
She came home on a special program called “Grow at Home” where we would continue to receive daily physician check ins for the next 15 days.
It was a traumatic start for both of us, but we made it through thanks to the support of family, friends, and the amazing NICU staff.
This June 4th I will be walking with the OHSU team, Team Tiny feet, to raise money in support of this amazing organization. With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. In fact, OHSU recently added a family coordinator to the NICU who is funded through March of Dimes!
Please march with me or make a donation to support this community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all moms and babies.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
