Ijoined the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. But I need your help.
I have been a NICU nurse for eight years and attended this walk for even longer. I know the positive impact that the march for dimes makes for each baby and their involvement in developing surfactant and other crucial things that have helped us extend the limits of viability even since I have been in the NICU world.
This year I have a new reason to walk. In December, my best friend delivered her baby at 24 weeks unexpectedly and I thought that I would be the perfect person to help walk her through this journey. i was ready for the long journey, but at 36 hours, we lost him to a common complication for preemies. Despite all my abilities and knowledge, there wasn't anything we could do. So I walk for him this year in the hopes that one day there will be less premature births and more things that we can do to save babies we could not save.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
