On March 28, 2024, I went to Brigham and Women's Hospital for a prenatal appointment. Within two hours, Colin and Emmett were delivered nine weeks early via emergency c-section due to sudden onset twin to twin transfusion syndrome.
They both had a lot of growing to do as well as a number of medical issues to work through. Thanks to the amazing staff in the NICU, we knew they were always loved and taken care of even when we weren't there with them. Emmett came home after 48 days, and Colin came home after 54 days in the NICU. We surprised ourselves that we were so emotional leaving for the last time with both boys because we had spent so much time there and had gotten so close with the staff. And of course, we didn't know what we were going to do with newborn twins without the best nurses helping us!
We could have had a very different outcome without the incredible care we received beginning with prenatal care, the twin's emergency delivery and of course the excellent care they received in the NICU.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. Please consider visiting my fundraising page to make a donation.
