A little over 8 years ago I went in for a glucose appointment, that quickly turned into a day I will never forget. Being told by my OBGYN that I had a severe case of eclampsia(I had no symptoms) and had to be rushed to the hospital because not only was my baby’s life in danger, but also mine at only 24+4 weeks was devastating. Only lasting a week in the hospital, Jalaiyah started having dips in heart rate and unfortunately it was best for her to be born via caesarean.
February 12th, Jalaiyah Marie was born only weighing 13oz. Tiny little thing, but one of the strongest, fighting little girls you will ever meet. We had a long hospital journey. But by the grace of God, Jalaiyah Marie came home 380 days later, 2 weeks after her 1st birthday.
And today she is a beautiful, happy, energetic, smart, thriving 8 year old who is our complete world.
With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds we will raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country.
