When Sidney was born via emergency C-section, I desperately looked for information from anyone that had been through this before. This is when I found the NICU family support group lead by the March of Dimes. The coordinator was exactly what I needed in the midst of the craziness. She was there to sympathetically listen to what had happened, help me find the information I needed and help me advocate for what was in Sidney’s best interest and mine.
Over the next 3 months that Sidney was in the NICU, we were able to attend many of the March of Dimes family events and educations classes at UCMC hospital that would go on during nurse shift change in the evenings. Our March of Dimes coordinator had been there to help us document every holiday or milestone we reached while we were there and even helped Nick and I connect with other families who were going through this journey at the same time.
