As a nurse manager in women's services, I have the privilege of walking alongside families during some of the most sacred, and sometimes most vulnerable moments of their lives. This work is deeply personal to me. Every day I see the incredible strength of moms and babies, but I also see the challenges they face.
Here in Texas and across the U.S., the maternal mortality and morbidity rates are heartbreaking. Today, a woman is twice as likely to die from pregnancy‑related causes as her mother was when she was born. Families, especially those in marginalized communities, are carrying risks that should never exist in a country with our resources.
That’s why I joined the March of Dimes movement.
I’m walking for the moms who deserve safe pregnancies, for the babies born too soon, and for the families who have experienced the unimaginable. With preterm birth and maternal deaths continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds that support research, advocacy, community programs, and equitable care for every family.
