Shayna supports March for Babies

Kinsley Nicole was born at 32 weeks 2 day and spent 3 weeks in the NICU before we were able to bring her home. We were very blessed from the moment she made her appearance that she was such a fighter and had positive reports everyday. As first time parents we were so scared when my water broke so early. We got to the hospital around 9pm Sunday night and I was only 1/2 cm dialated. The doctor on call told me that I would not deliever for at least 72 hrs so my doctor would check on me in the morning and we were going to do everything to keep her in longer.  By 11 pm the pain I was having was so bad they put me on Morphine to help.. another hour passes and no relief but strong pain. The Nurses told me I was not have contractions as they were not being picked up on the monitor so I was now going to be given Demerol. Fast forward another few hours and pain is now so bad I was in tears and by that time I was on 7 medicatons for pain, anexity and to slow my labor down. All during this time I am also being given a Steroid to help Kinsleys lungs develope faster. Finally at about 5 am and in pain that I could no longer handle, I told the nurse I felt like I was pushing so she checked my cervix and to her suprise I was now fully dialated and she was able to feel Kinsley's head. With no time for an epidural it was a rush to get Kinsely out and at 5:34 am our beautiful baby girl was born

I participate to help all moms and families experience the joy of a healthy baby. With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. If you believe, like I do, that every baby deserves the best possible start, please march with me or make a donation to support this community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all moms and babies.

When it comes to giving families the best possible start, we all have the power to help.

March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.

March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
