As many of you know, our oldest son, Jonah, was born 11 weeks early due to a complete placental abruption. This is when the placenta detaches from the uterine wall leaving the baby without oxygen or nutrients. We were fortunately able to receive extraordinary care at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI through an emergency C-section and a 7 week NICU stay. This June, Jonah will turn SIX. In order to celebrate his journey we will be walking on May 17th for March of Dimes, an organization that raises awareness on premature birth, funds research, reduce maternal mortality and advocates to improve health disparities for women of color. Currently the US has the worst maternal mortality rate for developed countries with black and brown women being 3-5x more likely in Wisconsin. We would love to have you join us or support our cause http://www.marchforbabies.org/team/jonahjacquet . Additionally, we will be collecting baby essentials (diapers, wipes) to donate on March 8th for the Milwaukee Stork’s Nest chapter, an organization that assists women in underprivileged areas to seek early and regular prenatal care in order to prevent low birth weight, premature births, and infant death.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
