On January 22, 2020, I was asleep at home with my husband and kiddos. At 31 weeks pregnant, I was suffering a placental abruption. Not knowing exactly what was happening, I knew I had to act fast. Just before 2:00 am, I drove myself to Mercy Hospital.
At 2:24 am, 44 minutes after I originally woke up, my sweet Desmond made his arrival. He was in the Mercy NICU for 25 long days. There were a lot of hard days. I had no idea what to expect or how to cope with what my family was going through. Sadly, I knew very little about preterm babies before that day.
After what I went through, I committed to join the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. But I need your help.
Please visit my fundraising page to make a donation. Together we’ll be part of a movement to make America a place where every mom and baby has a chance to be healthy.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
