My journey as a NICU parent started July 17, 2024, when my twins were born 9 weeks early at Cedars-Sinai. They say you’re never really ready to be a parent until it happens — and that’s equally true for being a NICU parent. We sat with our twins for two months in that NICU, watching and waiting, hoping our kids would be among the lucky ones who got to go home.
There were many nights where every emotion you have feels turned up to full volume, and other nights where you couldn’t cry even if you tried. What got us through was our family and the incredible staff who work in that unit — the men and women who show up every day for families like ours.
It was after this experience that we decided we wanted to do whatever we could to help other families going through the same thing. Today, we’re grateful that our twins are growing and thriving.
