Hello, My name is Makenna Bristow and I am here to share my journey – a journey that began on September 30, 2007 with all odds stacked against me but transformed me into a beacon of hope for premature babies and their families.
I came into this world 10 weeks earlier than expected, only weighing a mere 2 pounds and 11 ounces. My arrival brought a whirlwind of uncertainty and fear for my family, but it was also the beginning of a remarkable story of perseverance and courage.
For the initial 7 weeks of my life, I called the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) my first home. Constantly surrounded by beeping monitors and connected to an array of different tubes and wires, my fight for survival began by taking life one day at a time. As I grew into a strong and healthy young adult, I have realized that my journey was about more than just surviving, it is about giving back and making a difference in the lives of others facing similar struggles. This is why I have dedicated myself to support these families and become a guiding light during their darkest moments.
My journey began with uncertainty and fear, but it has developed into something beautiful – a story of resilience, hope, and the power of love. As I continue to support and advocate for premature babies and their families, I am reminded every day of the incredible strength that lies within each and every one of us.
Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can provide hope to those who need it most. Thank you for joining me on this journey and I hope we can instill hope in others, together.
