On April 27th 2016 Ellie Addison started our prematurity journey, born at 33 weeks +1 day at Maine Medical Center. She stayed 21 days at the Barbara Bush Children's hospital in the NICU/CCN.
In May 2023 I gave birth to a full term baby girl named Emersyn Stacy and thought I was in the clear and Ellie's early birth was just a fluke.
March 2nd 2026 changed that mindset when I started having contractions with my 3rd baby not due till April 20th.
Grayson Robert was born on March 4th at 33 weeks + 2 days. He spent 31 days total in the NICU, 4 of those days at Boston Children's Hospital for the possibility of NEC or meningitis. All other days at the Catholic Medical Center NICU which became our second home. He was released from the NICU on April 4th, exactly one month after his birth.
We learned that even though 2 of our children were born premature at 33 weeks that you can have two totally different NICU experiences. We thought round two would be a walk in the park since it wasn't our first rodeo, we learned very fast that was not true.
I joined the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, I’m committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. But I need your help.
Please visit my fundraising page to make a donation. Together we’ll be part of a movement to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
