When in labor, I was told, “There is a high chance your baby may not survive. If needed, would you like to hold her to keep her comfortable?”

No parent is ever prepared to hear those words.

At just 23 weeks pregnant, I went into preterm labor due to an infection. Within hours, my husband Matthew and I went from expecting a joyful delivery to preparing for the possibility of saying goodbye.

Our daughter, Autumn, was born weighing just one pound, 3.5 ounces. She was tiny, fragile, and fighting from the very beginning.

What followed was four months in the NICU filled with uncertainty, medical challenges, and moments that tested us deeply. But through it all, Autumn kept fighting and slowly, she grew stronger.

She surprised everyone.

Today, Autumn is a thriving, energetic one-year-old. She no longer needs oxygen, and she fills our home with joy.

Our story is a reminder that even in the face of uncertainty, there is hope. That strength can come in the smallest forms. And that miracles still happen every day.
