A Scholar and Servant Leader: Brother Michael Vouffo's Commitment to Uplift

To Brother Michael Vouffo, education is not simply the pursuit of knowledge—it is a tool for empowerment, a platform for advocacy, and a catalyst for change. Initiated into the Delta Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., on March 16, 2024, Brother Vouffo serves as the Director of Educational Activities, helping to uphold scholarship and academic excellence as defining pillars of the chapter’s mission. A senior double major in Mathematics and Chemistry at Texas Southern University, he is preparing for a future in medicine—driven by a commitment to reduce healthcare disparities and expand access for underserved communities.

Long before Alpha, Brother Vouffo demonstrated a consistent devotion to mentorship, leadership, and academic excellence. As an undergraduate member of the Thomas F. Freeman Honors College and a leader within Collegiate 100, he has continually sought ways to strengthen student success and cultivate the next generation of servant-leaders. Today, he continues that work through his roles in campus leadership—supporting students through programming, accountability, and community-building initiatives that encourage persistence, confidence, and excellence.

Brother Vouffo’s dedication to service reaches beyond campus. His work and interests sit at the intersection of STEM, public health, and storytelling—using education to make health information more understandable, more human, and more actionable. Whether through community-based programming, mentoring, or health-focused outreach, he consistently leads with purpose and a deep belief that informed communities are empowered communities.

It is only fitting, then, that Brother Vouffo would champion the March of Dimes and March for Babies. His commitment to improving health outcomes aligns directly with the March of Dimes' mission to fight for the health of mothers and babies. As he strives to uplift students and strengthen communities, he also stands with families navigating the most vulnerable stages of life—working toward a future where every baby has the chance to thrive.

Through scholarship, leadership, and service, Brother Michael Vouffo embodies the spirit of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the enduring tradition of excellence at Texas Southern University. His journey reflects the power of education, the necessity of mentorship, and an unwavering dedication to serving communities that need advocates the most.

When it comes to giving families the best possible start, we all have the power to help.

March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.

March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
