The March of Dimes holds a special place in my heart! My first job out of college was as a community director in Northwest PA, and that's where I met my team member - Chris Conley. Twenty years later, we're still walking through life together. I met some of my best friends during my time there!
When I worked at the March of Dimes in my early 20s, I would have not known just how close this mission would become to me. I later struggled with fertility and experienced miscarriages, which eventually led me to adoption. At age 6, my daughter was diagnosed with a heart birth defect which we had to have surgically repaired.
I've never stopped supporting the cause - nor have I stopped hoping for a healthy start for all moms and their babies, no matter which path leads them there.
However, it is our first year returning to the actual walk event after over a decade. It's both sentimental and exciting, as I'm introducing my 13-year-old daughter to this special event.
I know first-hand the time and energy it takes to pull off an event, in fact I was responsible for several walks in the 2000s. The sponsorship proposals, the media outreach, the calls about getting bananas and hot dogs donated, the logistics planning, the volunteer recruitment - it requires juggling like no other! Cheers to the volunteers who have continued to host this event and bring people together for such an important cause.
March of Dimes is dedicated to bringing people together to tackle America's maternal and infant health crisis—one person, one community, and one step at a time. More than a series of walks, March for Babies is an annual tradition that supports moms and babies every day, every step of the way.
March for Babies connects friends, families, and coworkers to improve the health of families nationwide. Together with March of Dimes, each step forward brings us closer to a healthy future for all.
Thank you for your support!
