I walk to help premie babies take their first steps in life easier than their first breath. March of Dimes was started to help eradicate the Polio virus and has since grown into the organization that fights for unborn babies, premature babies and babies with time spent in the NICU. This past year with your support 15,700 babies received lifesaving surfactant therapy, developed by March of Dimes researchers. Babies in the Houston Division receive screening for 30 inherited disorders, 4 of which were funded and advocated by March of Dimes. 93,116 babies are born each year, 12,076 are born prematurely and 2,820 are born with a birth defect.
