There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint in this world. Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small, and often very sick. I never imagined that my son would be part of that statistic, but on November 30, 2007, he was born 3 months early. He passed away 3 days later- at only 14oz, his body was not developed enough to survive on its own. As a parent, there is no worse feeling in this world than to watch your child fight for his life and not being able to do anything to help.
My second son was born at 36 weeks due to my high-risk pregnancy. He also spent time in the NICU as he could not regulate his body temperature or glucose levels. Having a second child in the NICU was something I never wanted to experience again after losing my first child. I was terrified for my son and reliving my trauma. Luckily, he was able to come home.
Every step I take during this walk is a hope that no other parent has to know the pain I have experienced. I walk in honor of my sons' lives; I walk in hope for all unborn babies.
