On February 29, 2014, I went to the ER thinking I might have a blood clot. Just five days later, our son, Rory Robert Sheerin, was born 11 weeks early, weighing only 1 lb 11 oz. Severe preeclampsia impacted both of us, turning what we expected to be a routine pregnancy into a fight for survival.
We spent 94 long days in the NICU, never leaving Rory’s side. The nurses and doctors who cared for him poured their hearts into his journey, and we will be forever grateful for the compassion, skill, and dedication they showed our family during that time.
Today, Rory is 2 years old and fills our lives with joy every single day. We know how incredibly blessed we are—but we also know that not every family gets the same outcome.
We are doing this for the moms feeling hopeless in the hospital chair, for the dads feeling lost, the nurses pouring their hearts into these babies and the babies past and present.
With preterm birth and maternal health complications on the rise, we are committed to helping give every family the best possible start. That’s why we’re raising funds—but we can’t do it alone.
