At 29 weeks pregnant, I was admitted to St. Thomas Ascension due to pregnancy complications. What began as an unexpected hospital stay turned into several weeks in antepartum until our son, Grady Samuel, arrived at 32 weeks gestation.
Grady was immediately admitted to the NICU, where we were surrounded by the most incredible team of doctors and nurses. I will forever be grateful for their love, prayers, hugs, and unwavering support during such an emotional time for our family.
After 45 long days in the NICU, we were finally able to bring our sweet “biscuit” home. As a mom of two other children, I can truly say you never fully understand what a NICU mother goes through until you’ve walked that road yourself.
Organizations like March of Dimes were such a blessing to our family. They provided meals during a time when we were constantly traveling back and forth—caring for our two children at home while also spending as much time as possible with our son in the hospital.
Having experienced firsthand how much this support means, I feel deeply grateful and hopeful for the opportunity to give back and bless other families who are currently walking through their own NICU journey.
