Our family is walking in the March of Dimes, March for Babies in April 2026. We are walking in honor of our amazing 3 (almost 4) year old daughter, Sloane, who was born with Down Syndrome. Many of you know her by Sloanie and that is why we are walking as Team Sloanie B. The B actually represents the bumble bee. You might have heard to old saying, “Aerodynamically, the bumble bee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn't know it so it goes on flying anyway.” That's our girl. Her diagnoses do not slow her down. And if you have ever met her, you'll find that she is living her best life every single day.
From day one, Sloanie has faced many significant medical challenges. We've spent more days in the hospital than I can count. Immediately after she was born, she was whisked away to the NICU, which is where she spent the majority of the first year of her life. She has had 2 open heart surgeries, a g-tube placement, countless tests, sticks, scans and so many sleepless nights. During some of the most frightening and uncertain moments of our lives, the March of Dimes was there--offering support, guidance and hope when we needed it the most. This walk is our way of giving back, honoring our daughter's strength, and supporting an organization that truly cares and works hard for our babies.
Over the next couple of weeks, you will see me posting videos and articles talking about the March of Dimes and what they are all about. Keep your eye out on their socials, mailers and ads, you just might see our faces out there! Also, make sure to give us a follow on Facebook. Click here --→
