I am raising money for Max.

The Lewis family is my family here in Summerville. Emily and Mitchell are extraordinary parents, steady, loving, and resilient. Mitchell is on active duty in the U.S. Navy, flying an E-2C Hawkeye, the Navy’s primary carrier-based airborne early warning and command and control aircraft. Even with that level of responsibility and time away, their focus has always been Max.

On July 18, Max entered the world far earlier than expected, born at just 23 weeks. He weighed one pound. From his first moments, he was met with exceptional care at MUSC, care made possible in large part by decades of research funded by the March of Dimes.

Over the past six months, Max has fought through the challenges that come with arriving too soon. His family has endured countless sleepless nights, constant uncertainty, and a level of emotional endurance few truly understand unless they have lived it. And Max has met every challenge head-on. Today, this little bruiser weighs nine pounds and is still growing.

Before Max, I did not fully understand the impact of the March of Dimes. Now I do. Their work directly supports the research, innovation, and clinical care that give premature babies a fighting chance. Max is living proof of that impact.

So I am getting back into running for this little guy, and raising money along the way. This is about Max, his family, and every baby who needs a stronger start. I am all in.
