As we kick off this year’s March for Babies, I’m reminded why this mission is so personal to me.
My son Columbus would have celebrated his 33rd birthday this past January had he survived birth. Though I never had the chance to watch him grow, his memory continues to guide my purpose.
At the same time, I honor the life of my father, Emanuel, who entered the world as a premature baby at a time when medical care for preemies was far more limited. Yet he survived and thrived for more than 60 years.
These two stories—one of loss and one of survival—are why I am intentional about supporting March of Dimes and raising funds for March for Babies.
While I may never fully understand why Columbus did not survive, I believe we can make a difference by supporting the research and care that help prevent preterm birth and stillbirth.
Every step we take and every dollar raised is a gesture of love—
For Columbus. For Emanuel. And for every baby who deserves a healthy start.
